Teddy Bear(A Hisagi Shuuhei Love Part 7)

I cracked my knuckles after almost two hours of sitting at this desk doing paperwork. I was just half way through and getting really hungry, but I needed to finish up the one stack first.

My stomach growled as I reached for the next paper and started reading before dropping the stamp on the page and moving on.

Before too long there was a knock at the door as I was in the single digits of the pile.

“Come in.” I said with a sigh, trying to hold in the growl in my stomach.

“Hey.” Shuuhei said with a warm smile as he came in with Izuru, Omaeda and Iba, “Are you busy?”

I raised and eyebrow and leaned back in my chair, letting him see the various piles of paper of my desk.

“Oh…” His face dropped.

“What do you need?” I asked teasingly, leaning forward.

“We need a favor.” Iba said awkwardly.

“I’m listening.”

“The woman’s society has been severely encroaching on the men’s society’s boundaries.” Iba said finally, “Taking away our budget, our meeting room and even our reputations just because they feel like it.”

“That sounds horrible.” I said dully, “What do you want from me?”

“You have connections with the women in the society.” Izuru started, “We were wondering, if, maybe…”

“You wouldn’t mind talking to them and maybe see if we could get recognition as a society here?” Shuuhei finished.

“And let me guess, you came to me because I’m with Shuuhei?” I accused looking at Iba, Izuru and Omaeda.

“Isn’t this the kind of stuff a good girlfriend is supposed to do for her boyfriend?” Omaeda growled at me.

I smirked and leaned back into my chair again, “Yeah, if Shuuhei had come to me himself, asking as a favor for him. But since this is for the men’s society, what’s in it for me?”

“What do you mean what’s in it for you!?” Omaeda all but yelled, “We’re asking you for help!”

“And I’m very busy.” I smirked.

“What do you want, Shiai?” Shuuhei asked me, knowingly.

I opened my mouth, about to mess with the raven haired man in front of me, but I was cut off by my stomach growling, loudly.

I felt my face heat up as I looked away.

Shuuhei, like the good boyfriend he was, laughed at my little outburst, “How about we get you some lunch?”

“That’ll work.” I said quietly still not looking up.

“Any particular requests?” Shuuhei teased as he turned to leave.

“Beef.” I said shortly, picking up my pen and getting back to work.

“Don’t starve to death before we come back.” He teased and shut the door.

“Shi-chan came to join us for snacks! Yay!” Yachiru cheered as I entered the women’s society’s meeting room.

“Hi.” I said as I closed the door behind me.

“What brings you here, Shiai-san?” Isane asked.

“I wanted to talk to you guys if you had a minute.” I said clasping my hands behind my back.

“Of course we want to talk with you, Shi-chan!” Yachiru exclaimed, “Come sit!”

I walked forward and sat next to my adopted sister.

“So, what’s going on?” Yachiru asked happily as she grabbed a mochi cake and stuffed it in her mouth.

“What’s the deal with you guys and the men’s society?” I asked, cutting to the chase, “Seems like there’s some bad tension.”

“There is.” Nano all but growled, “That damn Iba thinks just because he’s a man he can get away with murder if he wants to, and try to intimidate women just because he can. Now he thinks that because he has an unofficial club he’s on the same scale as me, in all of his stupid pride.”

“Sounds like you and Iba go back a ways, Nano.” I said non nonchalantly.

“He’s a moron, nothing more.” She snarled.

“Okay, but why are they unofficial?” I asked.

“They require the authorization of a captain to be official.” Nano growled down at me, “They do not have that.”

“What counts as captain authorization?” I asked.

“1 captain is to be a member of the society, and to be present for every meeting at least.”

“Like you have Soi-Fon-tiacho and Unohana-taicho?”

She nodded.

“They have Joshiro-taicho.” I stated.

Nano seemed to be amazed by that fact.

“Ukitake-taicho is a member of the men’s society?” Kiyone exclaimed.

I nodded, “And as far as I’m aware he attends every meeting and outing that they partake on. Does that not make them official?”

Nano let out a growl, “Why are you on their side, Shiai!?” She demanded, “You are a woman of standards just like us! Is it because you and Lieutenant Hisagi are together now!?”

My red eyed glare caused her to shut up immediately.

“No.” I said coldly, holding her stare, “I’m here because the men’s society asked me to come here just to find out why they end up with the short end of the stick. Now I understand why that is, and what has to be done to get them out from your self imposed shadow. Now,” I said standing up, keeping my right hand on Arekuruu Arashi just to show I meant business. “Unless you have something else you would like to scream at me, Nano, I will take my leave.”

I turned to the door.

“Aw, but you didn’t even eat with us!” Yachiru wined, “And all you did was talk about the boys.”

“I don’t like mochi outside of soup.” I smiled back at the pink haired girl, “And I’ll see you at dinner, Yachi.”

“Glad to see you all could make it.” I said before yawning. The entire men’s society was sitting along tables in front of me.

“Why did you call us all here, Shiai?” Akon asked me unamused, “Kurotsuchi-taicho won’t be happy about me being late.”

“Tell him it was my fault.” I yawned again, “Anyway, according to the official handbook of Soul Society Clubs -”

“There’s a book about that?” Omaeda asked amazed.

“I know, who’d of thought.” I replied, “One club can only a maximum of 1 room plus 2 additional storage closets if the proper paperwork has been filled out for the additional room. Meaning, with the woman’s society’s use of three rooms they are over the max limit. This room has now been reserved for the men’s society.”

“What?!” They all exclaimed and stood up staring at me.

I nodded, “The room’s yours. But,” I handed a clip board to Iba, “It’s still your responsibility as president to keep reserving this room every year. On top of that-”

“You did more than this?” Shuuhei asked almost in shock.

“I read a book, not broke my back.” I smirked at him, “Anyway, because of the over use of space from the women’s society their budget has been cut for the rest of the year as compensation. It’s only about 100, 000 for the rest of the year, but again. Iba has to apply for the funds every year. I-”

I was cut off by a dog pile of people on top of me.

“Thank you!” Were the only cries I heard.

I could barely breathe underneath all of that.

“Shō.” I wheezed out, instead of using my hand like I normally would I focused the energy on my back sending all the men flying.

I sat up with a huff and cracked my back.

“You’re welcome.” I snarled, “The one thing I wasn’t able to do it make the women’s society see you as equals. But what’cha gonna do?”

I was swiftly picked up from my sitting position on the floor and brought into a tight hug by my dark haired boy.

“I don’t deserve you.” He mumbled into my hair.

“You saved me from starving to death.” I muttered, wrapping my arms around his torso and burying my face in his neck, “I owed you.”

“Other way now ain’t it, red?” He asked before kissing my forehead.

I blushed as he pulled away. He had such a big grin on his face.

“We really owe you.”

I shrugged off his hands from my shoulders and the comment, “No.” I said and turned to leave, “It’s what a girlfriend does, just promise me one thing.” I directed my attention to Izuru, Iba and the rest.

“Name it!” Iba all but cried from joy.

“Don’t turn into paparazzi and try to snap a picture of me and Shuuhei together. Or a picture of me at all.” I grinned.

Izuru snapped his fingers, “Darn, there goes my weekend activities.”

I giggled at his response, “Glad we’re on the same page. Now, I’m going for a nap. You guys get to work.”

I closed the door behind me as I left, only to over hear:

“You lucked out, Hisagi.”

“She’s something alright.”

I smiled to myself as I walked away. I was glad they were happy, that’s all that mattered.

Teddy Bear(A Hisagi Shuuhei Love Story Part 6)

There was a distinctive spring in my step as I made my way to the 6th division with paperwork. Shuuhei and I had just gotten together after all, and he was so sweet too.

I knocked on the door before hearing Renji’s voice calling for me to come in.

“Hi, Renji.” I said with a smile as I enter the room.

“Oh. Hi, Shiai!” The red head said looking over a giant stack of papers at me.

“Where’s Byakuya-taicho?” I asked noting the empty desk.

“Captain’s meeting.” Renji said with a sigh, “You can leave those papers on his desk.”

“That time already?” I asked myself, “Thanks.” I directed that at Renji before doing as he suggested.

“So…” Renji started with an evident smirk on his face.

“What?” I asked shooting him a smirk aswell, with my hand on my hips.

“I’ve noticed you and Lieutenant Hisagi have been spending a lot of time together recently.” He wiggled his eyebrows at me, “There a particular reason for that?”

I rolled my eyes. I should have known that’s what he was going to ask.

“I’ll answer if you answer.” I countered, crossing my arms over my chest and leaning against the captain’s desk behind me.

“Shoot.” He told me.

“Why do you think we’ve been spending a lot of time together?”

His smirk just grew, “I think, Hisagi finally grew a pair and told you.”

“Nope.” I told him popping the ‘p’ sound in it. Renji’s face fell, “He kissed me instead.”

The red head instantly broke into laughter, “When the hell did that happen?” He managed out.

“After we defeated a couple of hollows during that invasion about a week ago when he came looking for me.” I answered.

“And you and Hisagi?” He asked amazed.

I raised my right arm and showed him the charm bracelet that adorned my wrist.

“That make you his?” He teased.

“At least I have a partner.” I smirked before pushing off the desk and taking my leave, “Have a good day, Renji.”

I was doing pull ups in the weight room when Ikkaku and Yumichika came up to me.

“What?” I groaned out pulling myself up again.

“So, you and Hisagi?” Yumichika started, “I like how you get a boyfriend right after Rangi-san and I stop trying to help you.”

I sighed and dropped myself from the pole to be eye level with them.

“Yeah, Shuuhei and me.” I told them, huffing slightly, “And of course right after you two are done meddling with my love life. You practically went around posting flyers that you were trying to find me a boyfriend making some people think I wasn’t available. And once you stopped that, it became apparent I wasn’t taken, allowing those who were actually interested in me to express it.”

“Alright, but how’s he treating you?” Ikkaku asked.

I turned and glared up at him, “How’s that any of your business?”

“Captain asked us to find out.” Ikkaku said, still smirking down at me.

“He thought you wouldn’t tell him if he asked.” Yumichika added.

I looked between the two of them for a moment before stepping forward, out from between them, and walking out of the weight room and down the hall to his room where I knew he would be taking a nap about now. Ikkaku and Yumichika at my heels wondering where the hell I was going.

I pushed open the door of his room and saw him laying there snoring, with Yachiru laying on the floor colouring.

“Oto-san!” I called waking him up.

“Huh?” He asked groggily looking up at the three of us.

“Hi, Shi-chan!” Yachiru sang from the floor.

“You know Shuuhei and I are together, right?” I already knew the answer to that question, but I was more focused on catching these guys red handed than anything else.

“Of course, why wouldn’t I?” He all but growled, “He’s a good kid.”

“Do you feel that if you have any questions about our relationship you couldn’t just out right ask me?”

“Course not.” He said almost dumbfounded, “You’d tell me anything as long as I asked.”

“Would you get one of the other officers to ask me for you?”

“Hell no!” He growled, “That should be kept between us!”

“So why did you guys want to know how Shuuhei treats me if it wasn’t captain’s orders and it’s non of your business?” I asked, directing my question, not at my father, but at the men on either side of me.

“Huh?” Oto-san growled at Yumichika and Ikkaku.

“We just wanted to make sure he was treating you right.” Ikkaku was the first to defend their antics.

“Hisagi was not our first choice for you.” Yumichika added.

At that point I had enough and pushed past the raven haired man to leave.

“You don’t have a choice, or a say, or a decision, or anything in my relationship unless I come to you and ask for advice.” I snarled as I made my way down the hall, “And that will be a cold day in hell when that happens.”

“Ouch.” I heard Yumichika say to my words as I rounded the corner.

They had crossed the line.

I watched the clouds go by in the crystal blue sky as a soft, warm breeze passed over me. I was laying on my back in an open field of grass. I was still a little pissed off from earlier. Not only was it Renji, Ikkaku and Yumichika, but Rangiku, Izuru, Rukia, Mashiro, Iba, even Shunsui! They were all pestering me about my new found love too.

I sighed thinking about it again, I wanted nothing more than to beat one of their faces in. That was until, a shadow fell upon my form and I sensed a familiar reiatsu. I opened my blood red eyes and saw those soft slate orbs staring down at me with nothing but warmth.

“I’m not late am I?” Shuuhei asked as he sat down next to me.

I shook my head, “I got here early.”

“Don’t tell me, everyone was bugging you about being with me?” He asked flashing me a million dollar smile.

I couldn’t help but smile back too, “Even Shunsui-tiacho was curious.”

“Really?” He asked amazed.

I nodded, “It’s stupid.” I said staring back up at the sky, “Everyone who has no business butting into our relationship is, and the one, maybe two, who do have the right to butt in, aren’t.”

“Your dad really hasn’t asked about us yet?” Shuuhei asked laying down next to me.

I nodded, “I think he trusts us. Or at the very least, trusts that I’ll kill you if you try something I don’t like.”

He just chuckled at that, “Like I would ever.”

And without another word Shuuhei turned over onto his side and tangled his arms around my torso bringing me so close to him that my side was touching his torso and my hip was pressed against his thigh, but I was still on my back. I brought my hands up to hold onto his arm as he nuzzled his face into the nape of my neck.

“I like being close to you.” I said softly, not caring how stupid it sounded, “You calm me down a lot.”

“I like being close to you too.” He said. I could feel the grin appear on his face, but he hid it from the view of the world by burying it in my neck, “You take away my stress.”

I felt my face heat up, but I kept my gaze up at the sky.

He was always so sweet.

“Was it one of those kind of days?” I asked after a moment and turned onto my side to look at him. Now we were chest to chest.

He sighed, indicating his exhaustion.

I reached up a little bit and kissed his forehead, encouraging him to continue.

“Mashiro spent the entire day goofing around and not doing her work. Muguruma-taicho spent almost the entire day chasing her down to try to get her to do it. At the end of all his work it ended with her spilling coffee all over the lay out for this week’s magazine, so I’m going to have to pull an all nighter in order to get it done for Friday.” Shuuhei sighed again after taking a deep breath, “And then to top it off the entire day I was getting pestered about being with you.”

“Long ass day.” I summarized hearing him finish.

“Yeah.” He mumbled before kissing my forehead and bringing my head down to be in his neck.

I heard him take some slow, deep breaths and relax almost completely in my embrace. Hearing his heart beat fast, but steadily. I knew my heart beat mirrored his own. It was the kind of thing we did to each other.

“Byakurai.” I said pointing my left pointer finger towards the bushes where I sensed something.

“Kya!” Rangiku shrieked and jumped out of the way of my blast and into the open.

Shuuhei and I were both sitting up at this point.

“What do you think you’re doing?” I all but snarled at her.

She laughed nervously scratching the back of her head, “Nothing.”

“Then explain the camera.” I ordered.

“Fourth seat Zaraki, you have no right to give me an order like that.” She frowned, and put a hand on her hip.

“I’m not asking you as an officer, Rangiku.” I held back a hiss, “I’m asking you as one person to another.”

I saw sweat starting to form on her brow as I bore my gaze into her.

“Is that the camera from the magazine!?” Shuuhei accused and jumped up, pointing a finger at her.

“Oh, well, you see.” She started unsure of where she was going.

I sighed before rising from the grass and placing my left hand on Soyokaze.

“Rangiku,” I began, “It has been a very long day for me. A very long and very stressful day at that. So, if you value your life I suggest you answer these questions and then return the camera you took from the magazine office.”

She swallowed, knowing her options of escape were getting slimmer. I was known to be just as cruel and blood thirsty as my father, but with much more sword skill.

“It is the camera from the magazine office.” She sighed in defeat, “And I was trying to get a picture of the two of you together as a special for the woman’s association.”

“Why were you trying to get that picture?” I asked, having a fairly good idea why.

“We’ve spent our budget for this month already, and we need more funds. We thought being like paparazzi from the world of the living would work. And what better thing to photograph than Soul Society’s new power couple!” She said with a smile.

I sighed, “Rangiku, paparazzi are despised because they invade in people’s private lives. Which is what you are doing.”

“No.” I snarled, I couldn’t hold much more in anymore, “Now return Shuuhei’s camera.”

Rangiku looked like she wanted to argue, but stopped seeing the glare in my eyes and the grip on my hilt.

“Fine.” She sighed handing the camera back to its rightful owner and walking away sadly.

“That damn girl.” Shuuhei growled to himself as he inspected the camera, “At least she didn’t break it this time.”

He looked over at me and grabbed my left hand from its almost death grip on the hilt. My anger disappeared with his touch. I found my glare turn into a longing look as I stared up at him.

Shuuhei reached forward and gently tucked a stray piece of hair that was in front of my eye behind my ear, before coming closer and placing a ginger kiss on my lips before he straightened up and kissed my forehead too.

I was smiling at this point completely forgetting about what had just transpired.

“You hungry?” He asked grinning down at me.

I nodded and tangled the fingers of my left hand in with his on his right hand.

“A new noodle shop just opened up on the edge of Soul Society.” I grinned, “Wanna check it out?”

“Sounds perfect.” Shuuhei grinned.

Teddy Bear(A Hisagi Shuuhei Love Story Part 5)

I stretched out in the early afternoon sun as I made my way to the forest. It had been a couple of days so it took me a few minutes to find the spot I was looking for. When I did I knelt down and started searching the area for what I was looking for.

I turned over stones and looked through bushes, but I couldn’t find it.

“Shiai?” I heard from behind me.

I looked over my shoulder to see Iba and Ikkaku standing there staring at me.

“Hi.” I said as I moved from a crawling position to sit on my knees, “What’s up you guys?”

“I think we should be asking you that.” Ikkaku countered, “We were going to spar and enjoy a drink together.”

I nodded.

“What are you doing out here?” Iba asked.

“I’m looking for something I dropped.” I told them.

“What was it, maybe we can help you find it.” Iba offered.

I shook my head, “I don’t want to take away from your guys’ sparring.”

“Friends help each other out, Shiai.” Ikkaku told me, “You should know that.”

I let out a sigh in defeat.

“It’s a charm bracelet.” I relented, “It only has one charm on it, and it’s a crescent moon.”

“I think I saw Hisagi holding something like that the other day.” Iba said absent mindedly.

I nodded, “He said he lost it around here, and he wanted to know if I could maybe help him look for it if I had time.” I lied, “He seemed to be really adamant about finding it.”

“And you have time?” Ikkaku snorted.

“I finished the paperwork for the day.” I said with a smirk, “Made breakfast for everyone, got in a morning jog and a good training session with Oto-san, and still have time to help look for this before the day’s out.”

“Are you trying to say I’m lazy!” Ikkaku growled.

I opened my mouth to give him a smart ass comment, but Iba interrupted.

“We’ll keep and eye out for you if we come across it, Shiai.” Iba told me, “But I think we will get to our sparring.”

I nodded and waved them off to continue my search.

I sighed to myself for what seemed like the hundredth time that day. I was still searching around on the ground for the stupid chain and it was almost too dark to see my hand in front of my face.

I got up onto my knees and leaned back, cracking my sore back.

“There’s still a little bit of light, Shiai.” I said to myself, “You got a couple more minutes.”

And so I continued my search through the ever deepening darkness.

—no one’s pov.—

Runners were sent to every division to inform about the state of emergency. Over 100 Adjuchas Hollows had invaded the Soul Society.

Upon hearing the news, the grin on Zaraki Kenpachi’s face grew even more.

“Men!” He called to the shinigami around him, “Prepare yourselves, we’re about to have fun!”

The men under him all cheered.

Yumichika approached him and asked, “Shall I inform, Shiai-chan about this?”

“Of course!” Kenpachi laughed, “She’d be upset if we left her out of this.”

Yumichika then left the room and went down the halls to the 11th division barracks to Shiai’s room and knocked.

“Why are we all clustered here!?” Kenpachi demanded seeing all other 12 captains and their subordinates standing in the designated area.

“To assign the designated zones all squads shall cover during this invasion.” Kuchiki Byakuya informed his fellow captain, “As if a fool like you would ever understand strategy.”

“What was that-

Kenpachi was cut off by Yumichika running up to him screaming.

The second the raven haired man was in front of his captain he bent over huffing and puffing.

“What’s wrong, Yumichika?” Kenpachi asked grinning like a mad man, “Cat got your tongue?”

“Shiai?” Yumichika huffed out.

Kenpachi’s ears along with Yachiru and Ikkaku, perked up at the mention of the missing albino.

“I can’t find her.” Yumichika finished.

“What do you mean you can’t find her!” Kenpachi roared, gaining the attention of every other captain and squad members that was present.

“I checked her room, your room, the kitchen, the office, the archives, the training room, the bathroom. I ran all over the barracks, I can not find her any where, captain. I’m sorry.” Yumichika breathed out.

Kenpachi’s smile fell faster than anyone could have imagined, his dark eyes zeroed in on the lieutenant of the 9th division and pushed his way towards him.

Hisagi Shuuhei swallowed hard as the much taller man approached him.

“The last time I saw her, she said she was going to look for something you gave her that she dropped.” Kenpachi growled down to the lieutenant, “Where is she?”

Shuuhei swallowed again. He hadn’t seen the red eyed girl all day, but of course he couldn’t very tell that to her very pissed off father. His reiatsu was basically suffocating him. But what then? She was looking for something?

It finally dawned on the lieutenant where she was, and with the distant roars of the Adjuchas growing ever closer, he knew he had to get her.

“I know where she is.” He said before turning to his captain, “Muguruma-Tiacho!” Shuuhei then bowed, “I request you allow me to go and retrieve 4th seat Zaraki Shiai to bring her into battle.”

“Why should allow this request?” Kensei asked, crossing his arms and glaring down at his second lieutenant.

“Because Zaraki Shiai is out there because of me, and if she were to die because of that I would not be able to live with myself.” Shuuhei said confidently, “The task of a shinigami is to protect the world of the living and the Soul Society, but I also believe it is our duty to protect our comrades.”

Kensei closed his eyes a moment before nodding, allowing his lieutenant to leave.

“She better come back alive and in one piece.” Kenpachi threatened.

Shuuhei just smirked up at the 11th squad captain, “She takes after you.” He said, “I wouldn’t worry about that.”

Before Kenpachi could reply, Shuuhei had shunpoed away in search of his friend.

My hand closed around a small chain. I felt my face light up feeling the small crescent moon shape along the bracelet.

“I found you.” I said to myself, falling back onto my knees from the crawling and hunched over position, “Now all that’s left is to find, Shuuhei.”

I put the bracelet in my pocket and stood up, brushing the dust off and stretching out.

“Man it got really dark.” I said looking at the sky. My eyes then grew wide as a giant shadow formed above me. I managed to shunpo out of the way before the beast landed.

It was an Adjuchas Hollow. I wasted no time in unsheathing both of my Zanpakutōs and placing the tip of the blade of one against the bottom of the handle of the other and saying;

“Soyokaze, sing for Arekuruu Arashi!” (Gentle breeze sing for the raging storm)

The Zanpakutō that was in my right hand was now a chain that was wrapped around my forearm, and the one in my left hand was now a blood red fan with curved blades along the frill.

The Hollow turned my way as I opened the fan. I swung it from above my right shoulder down to my left side as I said, “Cry!”

The force of the wind created by the fan was enough to send the hollow back and stun it as I shunpoed right in front of it. The fan was now in my right hand, and I used it to enhance my punch, completely shattering its mask.

I landed on the ground as the hollow dispersed.

I turned hearing my name. I saw Shuuhei running up to me, a little winded.

“Hey.” I said as he got to me.

“We’re in a state of emergency.” Shuuhei got out between breaths, “Adjuchas Hollows have invaded the Soul Society. Over 100 from what we know. We need to get back to our squads, being out here by ourselves if almost assured suicide.”

“What about the villages around the Society?” I asked, more concerned for everyone out there than myself.

“In the middle of evacuation,” Shuuhei told me, he finally regained his breath, “But Zaraki-Tiacho flipped when he found out you were missing. What were you doing out here?”

I reached into my pocket and picked up the chain I had in there, showing it to him in my palm.

“I had to know.” I told him, staring into his dark eyes.

Shuuhei pressed his lips together, unable to say anything.

“You don’t have to say anything yet.” I told him putting the bracelet back in my pocket, “Let’s get out of here.”

Shuuhei nodded, and we both turned to leave when 4 Adjuchas Hollows fell from the sky, blocking us in.

“Shinigami!” One yelled, “My favorite treat!”

“Easy Prey.”

“I want the girl!”

“The boy looks strong!”

“Let’s hurry this up and move on! I want to eat more than one!”

I couldn’t help but let out a laugh at everything they were saying.

Shuuhei, who was behind me, looked over his shoulder at me like I was crazy.

Once the Hollows surrounded us we stood back to back to eliminate blind spots. My shikai was still activated, and Shuuhei had his Zanpakutō drawn.

“We’re gonna have to fight our way out, Shuuhei.” I laughed before licking my lips.

“You are the embodiment of squad 11, you know that?” Shuuhei told me, turning his attention back to the hollows in front of him.

“Yeah.” I admitted, “But you’re too uptight.”

“Would you please-

I cut Shuuhei off by jumping away from him, sending the chain of Arekuruu Arashi at the leg of the Hollow nearest me. I pulled the chain hard, knocking the Hollow off of its feet and onto the ground. I maneuvered myself with my fan, Soyokaze, readied to break the mask. Bullseye.

I giggled as the Hollow disappeared from the impact. But moved as a second hollow let their claws into the earth where I was standing. It was in shock having realized that I was no longer there. But it let out an ear piercing cry when I wrapped Arekuruu Arashi around their arm and pulled as hard as I could, removing its arm from its body.

I took this opportunity to look out of the corner of my eye at how Shuuhei was making out. His Zanpakutō was still in its sealed form, and he was breathing heavily and was still taking on the 2 Hollows.

I hurried and took out the one Hollow with a point blank wind blast, that caused its mask to shatter.

I channeled my reiatsu to my fan, I took aim and the Hollow on the left.

“Hadō #31. Shakkahō!”

The red fire blast went straight at the Hollow I was aiming for with just a flick of my wrist.

It took its attention away from Shuuhei, who saw what I was doing and turned his full attention to the other Hollow he was fighting.

“Bakudō #62. Hyapporankan!” I said sending the light blue rods at the Hollow. It surprised me by deflecting them easily, but that was what I was hoping for.

I used it as a distraction to get behind it. As I did I sealed my shikai, and got on the top of its head. I drove the Zanpakutō that was in my right hand down into the Hollow’s mask, killing it almost instantly.

I was done, breathing heavily, I looked over at Shuuhei, who was more out of breath than I was, he had just taken down that 1 Hollow.

I smiled as I made my way over to him, “That was fun!”

My smile faltered as I saw his death glare before completely slipping off my face.

“What?” I finally barked after he kept staring at me for a few minutes.

“Nothing.” Shuuhei said before turning to leave, “Let’s go.”

“Don’t give me that shit, Shuuhei!” I snarled as I grabbed on to his arm, pulling him and turning around to look at me.

“Fighting shouldn’t be fun!” He barked not looking at me, “It’s life or death, it’s-

“That’s not it.” I cut him off, “If that were it, it wouldn’t be nothing. Now tell me what’s actually going on.”

Shuuhei just stared down at me for a few minutes, his lips pressed in a thin line. His dark eyes boring into my red ones.

Before I knew what was happening, Shuuhei had grabbed onto one side of my uniform and pulled me up a bit to him smashing his mouth onto mine.

I felt my eyes go wider than anything and my face heat up. But his warm lips felt wonderful against my cool skin.

Shuuhei had pulled away slowly, a thin trail of saliva still connected us until we were standing in our original positions when it broke.

“Don’t put your life on the line for me, Shiai.” Shuuhei told me softly, placing his forehead against mine.

“I don’t want to lose you too.” He told me, not breaking eye contact, “Fighting isn’t a game. It’s to protect those close to you, and defend what you stand for.”

I smiled at him and ran my right hand through his messy black hair, “You need to lighten up.” I told him, “Life’s too short to take it too seriously.”

Before pulling him down into another kiss.

I pulled back after a minute and smiled up at him. He looked just as shocked as I was sure I did the first time.

“I’m not gonna die.” I told him softly, moving my hand from his hair to rub his cheek, “But fighting is fun. That’s how I see it.”

Shuuhei just looked away from me, I pecked his cheek and grabbed his left hand in my right.

“Come on.” I said tugging at his arm, “We have to find our squads. We don’t want to die out here.”

Teddy Bear(A Hisagi Shuuhei Love Story Part 4)

I took deep breaths as I made my way to the 9th division. I knew Shuuhei wasn’t going to be all that happy to see me, especially after what I said to him. But I had to talk to him, and, more than that, I had to apologise.

I paused only to ask a few lower ranked 9th squad members where I may be able to find Shuuhei they pointed me to the magazine office. I thanked them and continued on my way.

I got to his office and knocked on the door.

“Come in.” He said hurriedly.

I slid in quickly and closed the door behind me. I looked over and saw Shuuhei bent over a table with his back to me, going through and editing the magazine for next week.

“You got a minute?” I asked softly.

Shuuhei jumped, almost out of seat, before turning around and staring at me.

“I get it if you don’t want to see me.” I said staring down at the hardwood floor, “But I just want to let you know I’m sorry for what I said. And if you want me to leave I understand.”

Shuuhei jumped up and shook his head furiously.

“No please sit down.” He said pointing to a chair  and pulling it a little closer to his.

I walked forward and sat down as he did. There was only maybe a foot and a half between our torsos and our knees were brushing.

“Shiai, while I understand your anger I still don’t have any idea what it is you’re talking about.” Shuuhei started, “I didn’t leave you a note that night. And I certainly wouldn’t have been able to get into your room to leave it with Ikkaku, Yumichika, Yachiru and you father all around.”

“But what about the charm bracelet?” I asked, “The only ones who know I like them are you, Renji and Izuru. And I don’t see either of them playing a joke like this.”

“I did buy you a charm bracelet.” Shuuhei told me, “It had a silver crescent moon charm on it too.”

I nodded, “That was the one that was under my pillow.” I told him.

Shuuhei shook his head, “I didn’t leave that.” He told me, “I haven’t even seen that bracelet since the day I got it.”

“What were you doing in the woods?” I asked.

“I got word from Aiko that Rangiku wanted to see me in the forest that night. I happened to run into Suki, and she forced herself on me.”

I stared at the ground.

“I’m sorry, Shuuhei.” I said again, “I really am. I got mad at you for no reason and you were just as uncomfortable with the situation as I was.”

“It’s okay, Shiai.” Shuuhei said placing a hand on my shoulder, “You didn’t know any better than I did.”

I smiled a little feeling better by the fact he didn’t hate me.

“Hey.” I said something finally dawning on me, “Aren’t Suki and Aiko really close friends?”

Shuuhei looked at me questionably, “I know they hang out together a lot.”

My soft smile turned into a scowl.

“I think I know what happened.” I told Shuuhei.

“What?” He asked.

I stood up, “Can you afford to step away from this for a bit?” I asked motioning to the magazine.

He just smirked and stood up with me.

“Good, I’ll explain on the way.”

“Oto-san!” I called pushing open the doors to the training room. He was there as were Ikkaku, and a few other lower ranking members.

“Yo.” He said looking back at me, “You two on talking terms again?” He asked motioning to the taller, raven haired male behind me.

I nodded, “Thanks to your advice.” I told him, “But there’s still one thing we gotta figure out.”

“And what’s that?” He asked.

“We need to know where Suki is.”

“Suki?” Ikkaku asked in disbelief, “What does she have to do with anything?”

“You’ll see.” I said with a devilish smirk.

“He room last I checked.” Oto-san told me, “I think her friend is there too.”

“Aiko?” Shuuhei asked.

“Yeah, somethin’ like that.” Oto-san said turning his attention back to Ikkaku, “Now get lost.”

“Yes sir.” I giggled and closed the door pulling Shuuhei after me.

“Are you sure it was okay with everyone for me to spend the night?” Shuuhei asked as I set out breakfast for the squad.

I nodded, setting out the last of it in front of him.

“Oto-san doesn’t mind.” I told him as I took a seat next to him, “He actually kinda likes you.”

“Really?” He asked almost shocked.

I nodded, “Ask him yourself if you don’t believe me.” I motioned to the door of the mess hall where he, along with Yachiru, Ikkaku, Yumichika and a few others came stumbling in.

“Good morning you guys.” I said as they all took their seats at our table.

“Morning Shi-chan! Morning Hisa-Hisa!” Yachiru cheered.

“Yachiru, you’re too hyper in the morning.” Ikkaku groaned as he sat down.

“What’s for breakfast today, Shi-chan?” The pink haired girl asked me, completely ignoring Ikkaku’s complaints.

I smiled at her, “Rice, baked bass, miso soup with spinach and green onion, pickled plums, omelette, and boiled tofu.”

She looked like she was about to pout.

“With sweet red bean paste.” I said pushing a dish towards her.

“Yay!” She cheered.

“Eat up.” I encouraged everyone as I picked up my own chopsticks and grabbed some omelette.

Two, very pissed off, feminine voices echoed through out the barracks.

I smirked and continued to eat, as every other man, excluding my father, went rigid at the sound. And they began to shake as the sound of heavy foot stomps came closer and closer.

All I did was look at Shuuhei with a knowing look, and he looked back at me.

Time to see if it worked.

The door flew opened. And I instantly realized it did.

Both girls were standing their in there skimpy pjs, consisting of tank tops that didn’t reach their short shorts. Aiko’s long blonde hair had streaks of green and black in it, she had a sticky black substance covering her soft face and torso in swirls and complex designs. Her legs had a similar design but in green.

Suki on the other hand had her long dark hair bleached almost white with hot pink liquid dripping down her hair onto her body and the floor. She had the same dark sticky liquid on her, but with an addition of white feathers on her torso.

Both girls had little, tiny red dots all over their bodies.

I had unleashed a new experiment of Kurotsuchi tiacho’s. it was just a cosmetic bug that caused unattractive red dots and some irritation.

I picked up another piece of omelette before saying;

“You girls trying a new look or something?” afterwards popping the omelet in my mouth.

“You did this?” Suki seethed as she advanced towards me.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I told her with a straight face.

Suki lunged forward and hauled me up by my uniform top.

“You little cunt.” She growled.

“Suki.” Oto-san warned, “Let her go.”

“Captain, look at what she did to me!” Suki screamed, “To Aiko!”

“Let her go.” Oto-san repeated, this time standing up.

Suki, in her fear, let me go. Throwing me to the ground in the process. Oto-san approached her.

“Suki! Aiko!” He started, “It has come to my attention that not only have you both been trespassing into another’s room. But lying to a superior officer!” He said turning his attention to Aiko, “Sexual harassment!” Turning back to Suki, “And stealing.”

Suki opened her mouth to defend herself but got cut off.

“I can let that all slide.” Oto-san told them, “This time. If you would like to continue your little fight with my daughter, simply because she’s giving you a well deserved justice. Fine. But I will be bringing all of this up with the Captain Commander and he will deal with both of you.”

Suki glared at me, knowing she was caught between a rock and a hard place.

“How can you sexually assault a man?” She asked bitterly.

“Anybody can do that to anybody.” Oto-san started, “As long as the urge is not reciprocated. So don’t give me that bull shit.”

Suki just glared even harder at the ground.

“What’ll it be Suki?” Oto-san asked.

She didn’t say anything.

“I’m not going to ask again.”

“I’ll take this punishment.” She hissed.

“Good. Now go clean up.” He told her.

“Yes, sir.” She said and stormed out with Aiko.

Only when I knew they were out of earshot I let out a snort.

“Came out better than I thought.”

“How did you do that?” Ikkaku asked.

“Ask her.” Shuuhei said pointing at me.

I smiled and hurried to chew and swallow my fish.

“Karin, Yuzu and I did something similar to their dad for April fools day one year.” I explained, “Without the body designs and bugs.”

“It’s ingenuous.” Yumichika told me.

“So it’s seriously going to stain their skin for about a week!?” Shuuhei exclaimed.

I nodded, “It was either that or a month.”

He sighed and fell back against the tree we were sitting under.

“By the way.” I said turning to look at him, “I never got around to asking you; why did you buy me that bracelet?”

Shuuhei smirked at me before saying;

“Find it, and I’ll tell you.”

Teddy Bear(Hisagi Shuuhei Love Story Part 3)

“Let’s go!” I giggled as I backflipped away from Yumichika’s attack.

Ikkaku charged me from behind, completely out of his character. I turned and met him with the sword in my left hand. He was the stronger and more reckless of the two, that made him more dangerous than Yumichika.

Yumichika came at me raising his shikai. I rapidly pulled away from Ikkaku and slashed Yumichika’s wrist causing him to drop his sword and clutch his wrist in pain and to stop the bleeding. Ikkaku then jumped on me, knocking me back a few feet. He then barraged me with attacks coming left and right.

I just smiled more enjoying this. I found my opening and shoulder checked him in the stomach sending him flying back. I thought I had him, when I felt Hōzukimaru against my back pulling me forward with Ikkaku.

The sly bastard had grabbed onto his shikai with both hands trapping me.

He hit the ground first and I had hardly any time to continue forward, crashing into him, when Ikkaku rolled over, pinning me beneath him. He had Hōzukimaru’s blade pointed at my neck.

I couldn’t help but smile even after I lost.

“You win.” I told him.

“Yeah.” He smiled down at me.

“Smart.” I told him, still looking up at him, “Using my physical attack to trap me. I like it.”

“I acted on instinct.” He told me with a smirk.

“Your instincts didn’t lead you wrong.” I told him.

“Ikkaku, Shiai-chan.” Yumichika called to us, “If Captain comes by and see’s the two of you in this position he’ll flip his lid.”

Ikkaku finally noticed our position: me on my back arms up by head, legs both in between his. Ikkaku on top of me, his knees on either side on my hips, one of his hands were on either side of my head blocking me in.

His face went red and he jumped up and back, fast enough I could barely see him.

I sat up slowly and sat Indian style on the ground looking up at the two men.

“Guess we’re tied up again, huh?” I asked putting my Zanpakutōs away.

“Yeah.” They both said together. Ikkaku scratching the back of his head.

“You may want to get to the 4th division.” I suggested to Yumichika as I stood up and dusted myself off.

Yumichika nodded holding his wrist tighter.

“I just hope it wont leave a scar.” He sighed.

“If it does I’ll buy you a bracelet you like to hide it until it heals.” I offered.

“Thank you.” Yumichika said as he turned to leave for the 4th division.

“Please don’t tell Captain about that.” Ikkaku asked as I approached him.

“Tell Oto-san what?” I asked putting my hands on my hips and smirking at him.

Ikkaku smirked back.

I sighed to myself in contempt. It had been a good day. I had gotten all the paperwork done, some really good training with Ikkaku and Yumichika in, Yumichika wasn’t going to have a scar, even thought I lost the fight I had fun. I made a successful recipe at dinner tonight that everybody liked. And I had just had a nice hot shower and a long bath.

I was currently settled in my pj’s on my bed rubbing my short hair dry. I looked over and noticed that my pillow was out of place.

I lifted it up, half expecting Yachiru to jump up and try to startle me again.

underneath was not a person, but an envelope. I picked it up and opened it. There was a letter and a charm bracelet with a single crescent moon shaped charm on.

‘Shiai, please meet me by the forest on the far west side of the soul society tonight. I would really like to talk to you. -Shuuhei’

I thought for a second about why Shuuhei would want to see me on such short notice.

I sighed and stood up, making my way to my closet and and putting on my regular uniform. I pulled my damp hair back into a pony tail with a black ribbon and grabbed my Zanpakutōs before heading out of my room and out of the barracks.

I hurried over to the west wall the headed out to forest to try to find Shuuhei.

I took a few steps into the forest before pausing at what I heard.

“Oh come on, Shuuhei-kun.” Suki purred to said male.

“Suki.” Shuuhei warned staring at the girl.

I hid behind a tree not wanting to interrupt anything between them.

“Oh come on.” She said again, hugging his arm and leaning on him, “I know you’ve been into me for a while.”

Had he asked her out at a later time, and wanted to see me first so he wouldn’t say something stupid and I was late?

Shuuhei hadn’t said a word he was just looking away.

I knew he had to like her.

She was short, but very curvy. She had long dark hair that matched the night sky and bright honey eyes with brown specs in them. She had soft, feminine features and long lashes. She had lightly tanned skin and legs that went for a mile which she showed off under. She had a sweet and sultry voice that was alluring. There was nothing about her that was resistable.

But why was he not taking full advantage of this? Was Shuuhei shy when it came to women?

“Suki.” Shuuhei started and he finally turned to look at the girl. She interrupted him by smashing her lips on his.

A raw, raging, almost uncontrollable emotion I couldn’t place stuck me like a bolt of lightning.

He pushed away from her fast, but she pulled him back again. Suki, despite her looks, was far stronger than she ever let on.

I felt my chest tighten up to point of painfulness.

I didn’t need to know what he wanted. I dropped the bracelet on the ground and shunpoed back to my room.

I closed the door and slid down against it. I couldn’t comprehend what I had just seen. And I didn’t know why my chest hurt so badly after that. What I did know was I didn’t want to see Suki or Shuuhei again. Ever.

“Come in.” I said not looking up from the paperwork in front of me.

I heard the door slide open and then close behind the person before the soft padding of their feet made their way across the floor to the desk where I sat.

I didn’t have to look up to know who it was. I was all too familiar with that reiatsu.

“What’s up?” I asked still not looking up.

“I just wanted to talk to you was all.” Shuuhei told me.

I motioned to the chair in front of my desk for him to sit down.

He took his seat and sat there for a moment. I guess he was trying to find words.

“How are things with you and Suki?” I asked almost bitterly.

“That’s just the thing.” Shuuhei started, “I wanted to apologize to you.”

“Things not work out?” I asked moving on to another piece of paper.

“You could say that.”

“Seems weird.” I said still not looking at him.

“How does it seem weird?”

I finally looked up from my paperwork and bore my blood irises into his deep cobalt grey eyes.

“I got your note.” I snarled, “And that stupid charm bracelet you left for me under my pillow. And here I was happy and running to meet you, and all you wanted to do was shove in my face the fact I’m still single with Suki’s tongue down your throat.”

I seethed. I had to finish this now, there was too much coming up for me to stop.

“I never thought you were that kind of guy, Shuuhei.” I continued, “Did Rangiku put you up to that? Or was what happened between you and Suki an accident you didn’t want me to see so you could continue to toy with my emotions some more?”

“Shiai, what are you talking about?” Shuuhei demanded.

“The day after we went out shopping for that thing for your precious little girlfriend, I went into my room about to go to sleep and I found a charm bracelet and a note under my pillow. It was signed by you, and you asked me to meet you in the forest because you wanted to talk. And when I got there I saw you and Suki playing fucking tonsil tennis! Was that her idea!? Or did I just come at the wrong time?!”

“Shiai…” He trailed off.

“What?” I growled. I was on the verge of tears now and I didn’t know what to do.

Shuuhei just sat there in front of me opening and closing his mouth not knowing what to do or say.

I took the opportunity and shunpoed out of the room and as far away from him as I could. I couldn’t ever face anyone ever again if I cried in front of him. I didn’t want to cry.

I almost threw the doors to the training room off the rail when I slammed them open and stalked inside grabbing hold of two wooden swords.

“Come.” I told all of the lower ranked officers who were there. They all charged at me, not knowing the mood I was in. The only good thing going on was Yumichika, Ikkaku, Yachiru and oto-san weren’t there. But I felt sorry for all the men who were raising their swords to me, I only wished Suki was among them.

I sat on the roof of the barracks staring at the moon. I didn’t want to see anyone. But someone wanted to see me.

“You not hungry?” Oto-san asked from behind me.

I shook my head slowly as I pulled my knees closer to my chest.

I heard him sigh from behind me and come forward to sit with me. Oto-san dropped to my left, gazing at the moon with me.

“What’s wrong?” Oto-san demanded, “And don’t give me any shit about it being nothin’. You’re too much like your mother for me not to see it.”

“I’m more like you than I am her.” I said quietly.

“My blood’s too strong.” He started, “So of course you’re more like me. But that doesn’t mean you aren’t anything like her.”

I said nothing as I continued to stare at the moon.

He carefully reached forward and moved some of my bangs out of my eyes.

“You got her beauty.” He told me.

I smiled and looked down, “But I got your smile.”

“What’s wrong?” He asked again, this time with patience in his voice. He wasn’t demanding, but he was concerned.

“Boys are stupid.” I said without thinking. But being fair they were.

Oto-san let out a guttural laugh.

“I thought you weren’t in the dating business.” He countered.

“I’m not.” I said staring back up at the moon, “But, there’s this guy. And we became really good friends since I came here. And he helped me a lot especially with learning kido. And I thought, at the very least he cared for me like a comrade. But then he asked me to meet him in the forest one night, and I saw his sucking faces with a girl I’m not particularly fond of. And I felt hurt. Because he gave me something earlier that night that made me think, even for a second, that maybe he liked me the way I wanted him to.”

“That’s not all of it, Shiai.” Oto-san told me, “If that were the case I highly doubt you’d of sent twelve of our squad members to the 4th division and another six to bed rest for a week.”

I moved my gaze from the moon to the ground of the courtyard.

“He came to the office today while I was working to talk with me.” I continued, “And he acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. And I feel really bad now because I really let him have it verbally. And I left him sitting there like a fish out of water. And I doubt now, even if it was a giant misunderstanding, we’ll ever get to the point where we were before.”

“Go talk to him.” Oto-san encouraged.

I whipped my head around to look at him.

“What?” I asked, not understanding.

“Go talk to him.” Oto-san repeated, “Find out if it is a misunderstanding. Cause this kid seems to be just as clueless about the situation as you. And only if it was planned, can you be upset. And if it was, you come to me with his name.”

I smiled up at him, “For a blood thirsty, battle happy, berserker. You are civil at times, Oto-san.”

He smiled back at me and ruffed my hair.

“Your mother and I had a few misunderstandings in our time.” He told me, “I always found the best way to deal with it is to find out what actually happened.”

“Thanks Oto-san.” I said and stood up, “I feel better. I think I’ll go talk to him now.”

“Yeah.” He said staring up at the moon, “Tell Hisagi I say ‘hi’ when you see him.”

I whipped around and stared at him.

“How did you..” I trailed off seeing his smirk illuminated by the moon.

“Shiai, I know puppy love when I see it.” He told me with a laugh.

I couldn’t say anything as I felt my face getting hotter and hotter.

Teddy Bear(Hisagi Shuuhei Love Story part 2)

I sighed again and signed another paper that was on the desk. I,technically, didn’t have the clearance to be taking care of this paper work, but considering the fact I had the name Zaraki also no one could really know the difference.

I let the rubber stamp fall on the next paper completing the work I had to get done for the day.

I stood up and stretched for a moment before picking up a section of the papers to carry with me. I had to get these to the 4th division today.

I yawned as I left the office. I had purposely been avoiding everyone the past couple of days. Rangiku had been on my case about leaving early, Iba had been non too pleased when he woke up in the 4th squad recovery room, Ikkaku and Yumichika were pissed at the fact I left early on them, and because of what happened to Iba, it seemed Izuru, Renji and Shuuhei were all avoiding me.

It also could have been because they were busy, but considering the fact that I would walk up to the group of them when they talking in the middle of the street and they would all scatter definitely told me something.

So what I had been left with as of lately was paperwork, cooking, training with oto-san, training by myself and reading when I could find the time. I was so bored recently, and really I had no one to blame but myself.

I somehow managed to keep my feet from dragging all the way to the 4th division. What didn’t go unnoticed by me was all the people who I passed didn’t say a word to me, they all moved to the side and averted their gaze.

That had to be the work of my father. I thought to myself as I entered the 4th squad barracks.

I walked up and over to the office and knocked on the door.

Unohana called for me to enter. I slid open the door and stepped in.

“Hello Unohana-taicho, Isane-san.” I greeted.

Isane greeted me with a smile.

“Here’s the report you asked for.” I said.

Unohana smiled at me and then gestured to the edge of her desk, “Please set it there.”

I did as I was told and bowed before turning to leave.

“Shiai-san.” Unohana called to me.

I turned around to face her, “Yes, ma’am?”

“Is there something weighing on your mind?” She asked with genuine concern.

I sighed in defeat.

“It’s written all over my face isn’t it?” I asked.

She nodded.

I sighed again, “I feel like everyone has been avoiding me since the night of Matsumoto Ramgiku’s birthday party where Tetsuzaemon Iba challenged my father for me and almost got himself killed.” I explained, “And I feel like it’s my fault even though I probably outta blame Oto-san and his over protective nature.”

“That is a bit of a predicament.” She said to me leaning back in her chair.

“But I will tell you this, Shiai-san, what happened to Iba-san isn’t your fault and no one should blame you for it.”

I smiled at the captain.

“Thank you.” I said to her.

“Don’t mention it, Shiai-san.” She assured me, “You are dismissed now.”

I bowed again and left the 4th squad with a much lighter heart than I went in there with.

“Shiai-Chan~!” Rangiku sang as she approached me sitting on the roof of the 11th squad barracks.

“Hi, Rangiku.” I said looking at her and smiling a little.

“Why didn’t you stay at my party that long?” She pouted.

“I was bored, and wasn’t comfortable.” I explained.

“Is that all?” She demanded. I nodded.

“Shiai-chan I swear at this rate I will never find you a boyfriend.” She sighed.

“Was that the entire point of inviting me to your party?” I hissed.

She nodded, “Yumichika and I were on the same page, you’re too cute to remain single like you are, Shiai-chan.” Rangiku explained, “Now what are we gonna do with you?”

“Maybe ask me what I want in a guy and try to find one that matches.” I muttered under my breath.

“That’s a great idea!” Rangiku exclaimed as she jumped up and grabbed my arm, hauling me after her.

“Yumichika!” She yelled heading towards the training room where she was almost 100% sure he was at.

“Yumichika!” Rangiku cried again as she threw open the doors of the training room to reveal Oto-san sparring with Ikkaku.

“What is it Rangi-san?” Yumichika asked pulling his eyes off the paused fight.

“I know just what to do to find little, Shiai-chan that spark!” She exclaimed.

As if it wasn’t embarrassing enough, almost all of the seated officers were there and listening to what was going on.

“Oh this is perfect!” Yumichika exclaimed and pranced towards us, “Let’s go! Let’s go! Let’s go!”

I dug my heels into the floor beneath me as they both turned me around and tried to push me out of the room. It worked for them until we reached the doors where I grabbed onto the doors and held on for dear life.

“I don’t wanna.” I growled at the two behind me still trying to push me out.

“Shiai-chan stop this right now!” Rangiku warned, “Aren’t you ever lonely?”

“Why should I be?” I countered, hissing at her this time, “I have Oto-san and Yachiru and Ichigo and-

“That are within the same world as you!” Yumichika growled at me this time.

“You and Ikkaku and Shuuhei and Izuru. And if I’m ever board I have the squad.” I countered pushing back on them.

“You’re being difficult!” Rangiku yelled.

“Then maybe you need to respect my boundaries.” I growled, “Oto-san, if there was ever a time for you to be over protective of me, now would be it.” I told my father who was just staring at us with the rest of the squad who was present.

“I’d like to know what’s going on.” Oto-san growled at the two.

Both Yumichika and Rangiku whipped around instantly, releasing the pressure that was on my back and causing to fall backwards and land hard on my butt.

“Captain, don’t you agree that Shiai-chan is just too cute to be on her own?” Yumichika asked.

My father tilted his head not understanding what was being said.

“Yumichika and I are trying to find someone for her to be with.” Rangiku finished, “Or at least we would be if she wasn’t so stubborn.”

“They’re trying to find me a boyfriend.” I told him standing up and brushing the dust off myself.

“What?” Oto-san growled.

“Going against my will and wishes to find a person, most likely a male, to put up with, hang out and be with me.” I explained, “Like what you and Oka-san were.”

“I know that.” He growled at me, “Is that what Iba was here about.”

“No.” Rangiku smiled, “He came here of his own accord.”

“Besides that, I would never pair up such a cute Shiai-chan with Iba of all people.” Yumichika scoffed.

“Shiai.” Oto-san called to me. I looked up at him, “Do you even want a boyfriend?”

Finally! I thought, Someone asking me what I want!

“Not overly, no.” I said honestly, “Between training and work I don’t have a whole lot of time.”

“Good to hear.” Oto-san smiled evilly, “Then I don’t want you two planning, scheming, plotting or trying to set my daughter up with anyone.” He ordered to Yumichika and Rangiku, “If you try, I’ll kill you both. Shiai’s a good girl, she’ll find a boy I deem good enough for her when she’s ready, until then; she doesn’t need the two of you butting in on her love life! Am I understood?”

“Yes, captain.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Thank you, Oto-san.” I said with a smile to the much taller man.

He smiled genuinely at me and ruffled my hair.

“Go play.” He told me, ceasing his actions and turning back to Ikkaku to continue their spar.

I said nothing but left the training room by myself. Yumichika and Rangiku were deflated after receiving the order.

I was walking on top of the walls of the soul society, basking in the sun as I went. It was a beautiful day, I had finished with the paperwork early and had the rest of the day to myself.

I turned to where I heard my name being called. It was Izuru waving me over, Shuuhei and Renji standing next to him.

I jumped down off the wall and walked over to them.

“Hi guys.” I said with a wide smile, “How have you guys been?”

“We’ve all been doing well, how about yourself, Shiai-san?” Izuru replied.

I shrugged, “So far so good. I haven’t seen you guys a lot recently, been busy with work?”

They all nodded.

“Say, Shiai?” Renji said gaining my attention, “Are you busy right now?”

I shook my head, “What’s up?”

A smirk appeared on the red head’s face as he threw an arm around Shuuhei’s neck.

“Hisagi here has a crush on a girl and wants to get her a present to kinda show his feelings.” He began. Shuuhei’s face became almost as red as my eyes and Renji’s hair in an instant.

“All of our other female friends are busy today so we couldn’t go out with them, would you mind coming with us so we don’t pick out something stupid.” Izuru finished.

I gave an apologetic smile.

“I’m more than happy to go with you and give you another opinion,” I started, “However, I’m not really all that girly either.”

“Neither is the girl I like.” Shuuhei said quietly.

I smiled brightly at him, “Then I’m more than happy to help!”

“Does she like jewelry?” I asked after almost an hour of walking around the shopping area looking for something for this girl I knew nothing about.

“To a degree, I suppose.” Shuuhei said scratching the back of his head.

“What do you know about this girl?” I asked crossing my arms over my chest, “That’ll be unbelievably helpful in finding something for her.”

He shrugged and looked away from me, staring at the ground, “She really likes to fight.” He started, “She has a good heart, I know she likes cooking, sports, reading and the cold.”

“What’s her favorite colour?” I asked putting my hands on my hips.

“She likes red.” He said shortly, “Not like a bright red or pale red or pinky red or anything like that.”

“Like a blood red?” I asked.

He nodded.

“Does this girl happen to be on squad 11 by chance?” I asked trying to think of all the girls on my squad that he might be into.

Keiko Ayame, but she doesn’t like cooking.
Ariadnie Rin, but she’s rude and doesn’t like anybody, really.
Morinzai Yuri, but she loathes the cold.
Honikuriko Sakura, but she’s such an air head, I’ve never seen her write her name let alone pick up a book.

The only other person I could think of was Tsukinolita Suki. She was all of those things, including beautiful.

“Yeah.” Shuuhei Said quietly.

I smiled to myself, it wasn’t a surprise he liked Suki. She had stolen the hearts of a lot of guys, hardly a day goes by that I don’t hear someone praise her bother for her skill and beauty in the squad.

“It’s Suki, isn’t it?” I asked giggling to myself.

Shuuhei looked shocked at my accusation.

“Come on, Shuuhei, you can tell me.” I assured, “It’s not really surprising either. I mean she’s a good fighter, she’s such a sweetheart, very smart. She’s curvy and very pretty too.”

“Shiai.” Shuuhei sighed.

“It has to be her.” I announced, “There’s no other girl on the 11th squad that fits that description better than she does. But what you forgot to mention was her beauty.”

Shuuhei’s face just kept getting redder by the second.

I sighed to myself and grabbed his arm.

“I know exactly what to get her.” I told him and pulled him along until we came to the shop I was looking for.

I looked in at the display window, glaring at every piece of merchandise on display until I saw it.

“That.” I said pointing to;

“She’ll love it.” I said turning to Shuuhei with a smile on my face.

He swallowed as he looked down at the bracelet I was pointing at.

“If you don’t have enough for it, I’ll loan you some of the money.” I offered.

Shuuhei shook his head, “I got enough for it, but are you sure she’ll like it?”

I nodded.

“Do you like it Shiai-san?” Izuru asked me from the other side of me.

I shrugged, “It’s okay.” I admitted, “Definitely more Suki than me though, which is why you should get it.”

“What’s your preference in jewelry then Shiai?”Renji asked out of the blue.

I paused and crossed my arms over my chest for a moment as I thought.

“It probably sounds a little stupid.” I admitted, “But I’ve always liked charm bracelets.”

“Charm bracelets?” Shuuhei asked.

I nodded, “I know. Stupid. But I’ve always liked the idea of just having a bracelet that let’s you look back on the relationships you’ve had and get to see all the space for so many more memories.”

Renji let out a small snort, obviously trying to keep in his laugh.

I rolled my eyes, “I said it was stupid.” I admitted, “But you asked.”

The 4 of us just stood there in front of that window for a moment before it dawned on me.

“Shuuhei, aren’t you going to go in and get that bracelet for Suki?” I asked looking at the taller man.

“Right.” He said sheepishly scratching the back of his head.

I smacked his arm, “Get your mind out of the gutter, lieutenant.” I teased, “She’s beautiful yeah, but the amount of guys she get’s asking her out on a daily basis gives you plenty of competition.”

Shuuhei’s face was back to a dark red.

“Why don’t you guys just take off.” He stuttered out trying to growl at us, “I’m gonna want to talk to her after I get the damn thing.”

“Good luck tiger.” I smiled at him and started walking off with Izuru and Renji.

“That was an adventure.” I said with a sigh once we were out of ear shot of Shuuhei, “You think he’d of told us sooner.”

“Hisagi-san already told Renji-san and me who he liked.” Izuru told me, “But we were afraid since you and Suki-san were so close you might tell her.”

I looked at Izuru like he just grew another head.

“Suki and I aren’t close.” I said, confused by the fact that they thought we were, “The only people on my squad I’m close to are Oto-san, Yachiru, Ikkaku and Yumichka. The rest I’m acquainted fairy well with, but not at all close.”

“So you won’t tell her?” Izuru asked.

I shook my head, “That’s the kind of thing that’s between her and Shuuhei. I’m not going to butt in on anyone’s love life.”

“I’m glad we asked you and not Rangiku then.” Renji said.

I laughed a little, “She’s probably still trying to work something up with Yumichika to get some poor sap a boyfriend.”

“What makes you think that?” Izuru questioned.

“They’ve apparently been trying to set me up with someone for the past little while.” I explained, “It was only the other day when Rangiku went to get Yumichika and myself to put a plan into action did Oto-san notice and order them to cease all efforts in finding me a partner.”

“I never thought, Zaraki-tiacho would order something like that to happen.” Renji told me, “At least he never would have when I was on his squad.”

“It’s not exactly because I’m a squad member of his, Renji.” I told the red head, “It’s because I’m-

“Zaraki-tiacho’s daughter.” Izuru finished.

I nodded, “Otherwise he wouldn’t have an issue.”

“I feel sorry for whatever guy asks you out then, Shiai.” Renji said.

I shrugged, “I think as long as he’s respectful, Oto-san won’t have any issue with me dating a long as he doesn’t do anything stupid.”

Teddy Bear(Hisagi Shuuhei Love Story part 1)

“Is that it?” I laughed to the squad members who where thrown about the training room floor, “And here I thought you guys had more fight in you because of how big you talked.”

“I’ll take you on then, Shiai!” I looked over to the doors to see Ikkaku pulling out a bamboo sword.

Yumichika was behind him with an amused smile on his face.

“You can’t control yourself, can you Shiai-chan?” Yumichika asked.

“Like father like daughter.” I said with a shrug as I gripped my swords in each hand, “Come.” I told Ikkaku.

He laughed as he jumped towards me.

I laughed and blocked his attack with one sword. I giggled and went to attack with my other sword. Ikkaku dodged and jumped back so we were a few feet away now.

I couldn’t stop laughing, as I ran at Ikkaku this time, letting out a barrage of attacks. I didn’t give him anytime to recover or think about what he was doing. When he went to take a step back I confused him with one sword in my left hand and used the one in my right hand to hook behind his knee and knock him off balance, that sent to him the floor with a loud thud. I then brought down my sword in my left hand right beside his head, effectively pinning him.

I giggled as him as I offered him a hand up, “I win again.”

“I was going easy on you.” He explained dismissing my hand, “You know as well as I do how captain would respond if I actually hurt you.”

“Excuses.” I teased, “If not by you then I’ll just go out and look for someone else who’ll spar with me and not hold back.”

Ikkaku let out a ‘tsk’ sound before retorting, “I value my life thank you.”

I rolled my blood red eyes and put the training swords back in the barrel, “Whatever helps you sleep at night, Ikkaku.”

“Where’re you goin’?” Ikkaku demanded as I grabbed my zonpakutos.

“Captain’s office.” I told him shortly, “Paperwork has to get done.”

Before he, or any of the other squad 11 members could say anything I was out of the training room and walking towards the office.

It had been about 3 months since I joined the gotei 13 as the 4th seat on the 11th division, under my father, Zaraki Kenpachi. Over that time I had become very fast friends with Ikkaku and Yumichika. Yachiru looked up to me almost like an older sister, and my father was happy to have me here after so long. I took over doing the paperwork for our squad, so the other captain and lieutenants were fond of me.

I was born in the world of the living, my parents, specifically my mother didn’t want me to grow up in this world having to fight and be held to such a high expectation. Aside from that, she had come from a noble family, so her having a child with barbaric maniac like Kenpachi, she and I would have been put to death. But my parent’s hadn’t asked permission to leave the soul society, so, soon after I was born my parents were hunted down and brought back to the soul society.

I was two when they left. I hadn’t known where they had went, or what had happened. The man I grew up to know as my grandfather, he was nothing more than an old family friend who owed my mother a favor, told me that my parents had died a long. For the longest time the only thing I had was; a silver heart shaped locket with a hot pink front and silver stitches on it with a picture of both of them to remind me of them.

I had grown up with Ichigo, he was my best friend, he had my back no matter what and I had his. I found my father when I came to soul society with Ichigo to save Rukia a couple of years ago. There he revealed to me that my mother had died when I was young, after they had been brought back to soul society. But she had died of a broken heart, leaving me was too much for her. But at the very least I knew that she loved me.

I went through the training academy and graduated in a year and a half. I was already proficient in swordsmanship, shunpo and hakuda. The only thing I needed to worry about was my Kido.

I opened the doors to the office and stepped in, there was a neat stack of paper on the left side of the desk. I walked towards the desk and picked up the first piece of paper on the pile. This work was from squad 9. I sighed a little knowing who delivered it.

Hisagi Shuuhei and I were good friends, he helped me a lot during my time in the academy fine tune my Kido. Lately I noticed I had been seeing less and less of the lieutenant.

I sighed to myself and plopped down in the chair.

He was always busy now, and because I didn’t drink I wouldn’t go to the bar with him, Rangiku, Izuru, Yumichka and Ikkaku even when they all asked.

“Maybe I’ll go next time.” I said to myself as I picked up a pen in my left hand and started spinning it as I read over the pages.

“Kensei-tiacho.” I said as I walked into the 9th squad captains office with a stack of paper in my hands.

“Yo, Shiai.” He said not looking up from his paper work.

“Hi, Shuuhei.” I said and nodded to the lieutenant.

“Nice to see you, Shiai-san.” Shuuhei said to me, he looked up from his work and smiled.

I smiled back.

“I hope you weren’t waiting too long for this.” I said to Kensei as I placed the papers on his desk.

“The fact it got done, when I sent it to the 11th squad is amazing.” He told me, He pushed back from his work and looked at me, “Thank you.”

I smiled and bowed Before turning and heading towards the door.

I stopped right in front of Shuuhei’s desk.

“Someone’s been busy.” I said and crossed my arms looking at the raven haired boy, “I’ve missed hanging out with you.”

“You never want to come to the bar.” Shuuhei countered.

“I don’t drink.” I told him, “By soul society law, I’m not old enough to drink. And we all know Rangiku will lose her shit and try and get me drunk.”

Shuuhei sighed in agreement.

“Maybe when you have day off, we can hang out.” I suggested.

He smiled and nodded.

“It’s good to see you.” He told me.

I smiled at him, bearing my teeth, letting out a little giggle before I left.

“Shiai-chan~” Rangiku sang as she wrapped an arm around my neck.

“Hi, Rangiku.” I said to her, not looking up from the onion I was cutting.

“Shiai, are you coming tomorrow?”

“Coming where?” I asked.

“To my party tomorrow night.” She told me, “I thought everybody knew about it.”

“I’m not everybody.” I told her.

Rangiku sighed before explaining to me, “It’s my birthday tomorrow, Shiai-chan. So I’m having a party and inviting a bunch of people. I want you to be there too.”

“What time?” I asked her dumping the onions into the pot.

“6.” She told me.

“I guess I’ll be there then.” I told her, “Ikkaku and Yumichika would probably drag me anyway, so I better go of my own accord.”

“Yay!” She cheered and jumped as I pulled out the steak and began to cut that.

“I’ll see you then Shiai-chan!” Rangiku called to me, “And wear something cute! I’m tired of seeing you in that uniform.”

I sighed as she slammed the door to the kitchen on me.

“I’m going to regret this aren’t I?” I asked myself as I added in the steak and curry ru.

“This is stupid.” I said to myself as I pulled on my dark wash denim jacket.

“Shiai-chan! Hurry up or we’re going to be late!” Yumichika yelled to me through my door to my room.

I sighed again, and stole one glance in the mirror.

I was wearing black short-shorts with a studded belt, a cropped, light blue t-shirt that showed off a little of my stomach, it exposed my navel, and it was a little more fitted than I was used to. I had a dark washed denim jacket that only reached halfway down my ribs with the sleeves reaching just below my elbows. I had my locket on around my neck. My short silver hair was pulled back into a messy ponytail with a black ribbon holding it in place.

Yumichika had taken me out shopping earlier today to get something for tonight. And while I objected a lot, I was forced to get it, and wear it. I was never comfortable showing off this much skin, I always thought I was far too pale, being albino, only to be made paler by the dark colours I was wearing.

I sighed again and opened the door to my room.

“Shi-chan, you look soooooooo cute!” Yachiru cried as I stepped out.

“Thanks.”I said softly.

“I knew this would look good on you!” Yumichika swooned and started to admire his work.

“Can we go now?” Ikkaku asked annoyed.

“Yes.” Yumichika said straightening up, “When you look this cute, Shiai-chan we need to show you off.”

I paused and looked to my father who was standing in the court yard with his zompakto on his shoulder.

“Oto-san?” I asked gaining his attention.

“Huh?” He asked turning to look at me.

“How do I look?” I asked him. I wasn’t comfortable in this at all, and I was hoping he would yell at me and get me to change.

A smirk appeared on his face, “You look like your mother.” He told me, “I like it.”

“Even Captain likes the style I picked out for you!” Yumichika sang, “I’m so happy!”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, let’s go!” Ikkaku yelled at us pushing us towards the exit.

“We’ll have her back in one piece, captain, don’t worry about it.” Ikkaku called back to my dad.

He didn’t reply as we left.

Ikkaku pushed Yumichika and I out the door, we both managed to grab our black sandles before leaving.

The walk there was silent, at least for me. Yumichika kept complimenting me and his taste in clothing. Ikkaku kept saying how he was going to drink Rangiku under the table this time. And all too soon we arrived to the place the party was to be held.

Ikkaku didn’t even bother to knock as he threw open the door gaining everyone’s attention as he did so.

“Party’s here everybody!” He yelled, “Damn it, Shiai! You made us late!” Ikkaku then yelled at me seeing as everyone has started drinking already.

“You’ll have to forgive us,” Yumichika said calming down Ikkaku, “Perfection takes time.” He said looking at me.

I then realized all eyes were on me, not on the men who were talking.

I then became hyper aware of what I was wearing and where everyone was staring. I felt my face heat up as a lot of jaws dropped, I just wanted to run and put on something that covered everything.

I wasn’t ashamed of my body, per say, I stood at 5’7″ and had an athletic build, a lot of muscle, a well toned body from fighting and training. But because of that I wasn’t very feminine in figure, very small in the chest, and hips. But more than anything, it was because I was pale. Almost sickly so.

“Shiai-chan!” Rangiku exclaimed as she ran over and pulled me into a tight hug, “You look so cute in that! See I told you, you would look better in something other than that uniform!”

“Rangiku.” I growled lowly.

She laughed nervously and let me go, “Sorry!”

“Come on, let’s have some fun!” She then grabbed my hand and pulled to the middle of the crowd of people, my face heated up even more.

She then turned around without warning almost causing me to run into her chest. She then handed me a glass with clear liquid in it.

I took it from her, but glared at it accusingly.

“Drink!” She encouraged, “We’re here to have fun!” She slapped my shoulder and turned to everyone else there.

“Let’s party!” She screamed.

Everyone else cheered in agreement. I took a sniff of the liquid in my glass, I wasn’t going to drink it. It was sake.

It’s going to be a long night. I thought to myself with a sigh.

“You know something, *hic* Shiai-chan *hic*.” Iba slurred to me as he wobbled from one foot to the other, “You’re cute, and I won-*hic* wonder how you haven’t found yourself a boyfriend yet?”

“Have you met my dad?” I asked the clearly intoxicated man in front of me.

“I can take him on!” Iba yelled, “You’re dad isn’t so tough!”

“Then go fight him.” I encouraged.

“I will!” He exclaimed, “And when I get back *hic*, you have to kiss me!”

I rolled my eyes as he stumbled off.

I had been at this party for almost 1 hour, I was the only sober person here and I was bored.

I had long since abandoned the glass first handed to me.

I looked at the crowd, they were all laughing, dancing, fighting, arguing and playing drinking games. No one would notice if I slipped out for some air.

I slowly made my way to the door and slipped my shoes on, I slowly opened the door and slipped out. The cool air hit me like a ton of bricks. It had been so hot and stuffy in there, and I had barely noticed.

As the wind washed over me, I remembered what I was wearing and my modesty kicked in. I put my fore arms over the exposed part of my stomach and started off towards the 11 squad barracks.

“Are you not feeling well, Shiai-san?” I head a voice behind me when I was not but a few feet from the door the party was taking place in.

I turned around and saw Shuuhei standing there looking at me, concern filled his face.

I was not the only one to change from the regular uniform today, but Shuuhei’s outfit caught my attention.

He was wearing fitted dark wash jeans with a plain black belt, and a dark purple silky looking button down with the top half of the buttons undone showing off his toned chest. He had a small gold chain around his neck as well as his explosive choker.

I shook my head in response to his question.

“I don’t drink.” I told him, “And everyone else is drunk so I got bored really fast, I figured no one would notice if I left.”

“Then why are you covering your stomach like that?” Shuuhei asked as he advanced towards me.

I looked down.

“It’s called modesty.” I told him, “I don’t like having this much of me exposed.”

He nodded understandably.

“Would you at least mind if I escorted you back to your barracks?” He asked.

I shook my head, “That’d be nice, we could catch up.”

And so we walked on talking about this and that. And before I knew it we came to the entrance of the 11th squad barracks.

We both stood there awkwardly for a few minutes.

“Do you have somewhere you need to be?” I asked suddenly.

Shuuhei looked at me in surprise for a second before shaking his head.

I smiled a little, “Do you want to come in for some tea, so we can keep talking?”

Shuuhei smiled and nodded.

I lead him into the barracks and to the kitchen. I put the kettle on and reached up to grab the tea pot and two cups from the top cupboard.

“I’m sorry to take you away from the party.” I said quietly, “I know you like Rangiku, and she’ll probably be mad that you didn’t stay.”

“It’s fine Shiai.” Shuuhei told me, “And where did you get the idea that I liked Rangiku?”

I turned around with the box of tea leaves in my hands.

“The way you look at her.” I started, “How if she asks you for anything you do it. Her assets.”

Shuuhei laughed at what I had to say.

“Rangiku and I are friends.” He started, composing himself, “And the reason I always do what she asks is because it’s usually asked of her by her captain, and if i don’t do it for her, her captain will be pissed at her.”

I rolled my eyes as I turned around to take the kettle off the stove and pour the water into pot.

“Doesn’t that make you more of her slave than her friend?” I asked as I put the tea pot and cups on the kitchen table.

Shuuhei just glared at me, I giggled at him.

“What about you and Iba tonight?” He asked as I poured him and myself a cup of tea.

“What about Iba and me?” I asked unsure of what he was referring to.

“You two were talking for a good while there.” He said and took a sip of his tea.

I shrugged, “He was drunk, he just kept talking about work, and woman’s society’s lack of respect for the men’s society, then he asked why I didn’t have a boyfriend. Which reminds me, I hope he got lost on his way here, if he talked to Oto-san in his current state, he might be killed.”

“What?” Shuuhei almost demanded.

“Iba asked why I didn’t have a boyfriend, I told him it was probably because of my father, to which he said he could take him on. I told him sarcastically to go for it, which he accepted as a challenge and then ran off to, what I assume, find Oto-san and challenge him.” I explained, “I really hope he got lost.”

“Why is Iba of all people asking you that?” Shuuhei muttered.

“He was drunk.” I told him, “That’s why.”

Shuuhei paused for a moment before looking at me deeply.

“Why don’t you have a boyfriend yet?” He asked, “I know your dad would probably kill anyone who tried anything, but I know you could persuade him not too if you wanted to.”

I shrugged and took a sip of tea before replying, “I got hurt before.” I admitted, surprising even myself with what I just disclosed, “Because of that I’m very careful around people unless they have gone through shit to earn my trust. Now I’m thinking if anyone who really did want to be with me would first have to go through Oto-san to get to me, making them want to be with me for who I actually am.”

“I guess that’s fair.” Shuuhei said.

“Why haven’t you gotten yourself a girlfriend yet?” I countered.

Shuuhei choked on his tea for a second before looking at me like I was insane. I grinned at him, letting him know I was serious.

“I’ve been too busy for one.” He said staring at the table, “Between lieutenant work, the magazine and the fact I finally got good at guitar, I don’t have much time.”

“Yet you made time to help train me in Kido.” I accused.

“That was once a week.” He told me scratching his cheek, “I could make room for that easily.”

I rolled my eyes and went to take another sip from my tea when the doors to kitchen flew in with Tetsuzaemon Iba unconscious on top of them. My gaze flew towards where the doors once stood to see my father seething and huffing in anger.

“Oto-san.” I said tensively as I got up from my seat and put myself between Iba and him, “It’s okay.”

“It’s not okay, Shiai!” He barked at me, “Do you know what that bastard just said about you?!”

“No, but, let’s also keep in account the fact that he’s drunk. He’s not in his right state of mind.” I assured, “If Iba ever tried anything, Oto-san, I would kick his ass myself. You don’t need to worry about me.”

“It’s not you I worry about.” He said, calm now. He had passed his rage and now was addressing his daughter, “I just don’t wanna lose you again.”

I smiled, “You wont.” I told him and put my hands behind my back, “I love you, Oto-san.”

He just smirked and turned around, “I’ll get one of the squad to bring him back to his barracks.” Oto-san told me, “Hisagi, I suggest you don’t speak of this.”

“I wasn’t planning on, Zaraki-tiacho.” Shuuhei said nervously.

“Good.” Oto-san snarled, “Now I suggest you leave. Shiai, it’s late, you should be in bed.”

“I’m not a child, Oto-san.” I reminded him.

“Do you want to stay up then?” He asked boring his eyes into me.

“No.” I said, “I’ll see Shuuhei out and then go to bed.”

“I’ll see you in the morning then.” He said and left.

I heard Shuuhei let out a breath he had been holding.

“I really wish you got lost.” I said to Iba’s unconscious form before sighing, “Come on.” I said addressing Shuuhei.

“I’m coming.” He said and stood up.

We walked side by side in silence to the door.

“I’m sorry about that.” I told him when we got there, “I wasn’t expecting-

“It’s fine.” He cut me off, “I understand your father’s frustration. But can you answer something for me before I leave?”

I nodded, letting him know to proceed.

“You don’t have to answer, but why don’t you like showing off your body?”

I was taken aback by what he said for a moment.

“Long story.” I said, “Best kept for another day.”

Shuuhei nodded, “I’ll see you soon, hopefully, then.”

I smiled and nodded.

Shuuhei left and I closed the door after him before making my way to my room.

I closed the door and realized I still hadn’t changed form the party outfit. My face instantly went red.

I went through all of that with this much exposed. I sighed and started undressing as I pulled out pajamas, a black t-shirt and baggy, dark blue guys pajama pants.

I put that on and fell on my futon with a sigh.

“At least I got to see him again.” I said to myself, “Even for a short time, it was nice.”
