Movie Title: Oblivion

Actors: Tom Cruise

Role: Jack Harper

D.O.M.R.: April 19th, 2013

Link to Watch: Just released, no link given.

Pre-Movie Summary: Unknown.

I literally just got home from the movie theater with my sister from watching this movie.

Basically what this movie is, is Earth is now a wast land 60, 70 years in the future. Alain invaders destroyed the moon causing the world to go into a series of earthquakes, tsunamis, and other natural disasters. The entire earth population has been evacuated to ‘Titan’ which is the new colony of earth on the largest moon of Jupiter. Jack(Tom Cruise) and his team mate, Victoria(I forget who plays her, and I’m too tired to look it up) are the only ones left. Basically what they are is the clean up crew, as Jack had said to Julia(Again, I forget, not looking it up). Who Julia is, is a woman Jack saved from a ship crash when the droids that he and Victoria were kept to running properly. He brings her back to the base. And what happens after that is he and Julia get caught by the ‘Scabes'(feel free to correct me on the spelling and the name). And what he learns is that the droids he’s been assigned to fix, are killing humans. So he’s asked to reprogram a droid so it’ll go to the space station in which holds the base for them. So, Victoria tells the boss of the organisation, Sally, that she and Jack are no longer an effective team. And by doing this she kills herself and almost does the same for Jack. And through out this all, Jack starts remembering his past before it was whipped out for the mission. He goes into the off limits zone, which they have been told will incinerate them if they cross it because of the toxic fumes left from the war. He finds another him, and realizes that the organisation has lied to him. He goes back to the Scabes,  reprograms the droid. But just as they were about to send it out to space other droids come and basically try to kill everyone. So a new plan is formed. Julia gets him to make her the ticking time bomb to kill the organisation. But he switches it on her. She ends up at his house, where he promised her they’d come back too, and it’s the leader of the Scabes who’s up in the space station with him. They detonate the explosives and the entire station explodes. It’s then fast forwards to three years later when Julia has a little girl, and the other ‘Scabes’ come to see her, along with the ‘other’ Jack.

Basically(I know I said that a lot), this was a really good move. A lot of action, a lot story, and is really interesting. I will admit to it being corny. Like it’s pretty much a hero saves the day, it ends happily for everyone in the end. And all that.

I still call it a good movie, corny as hell, but a good movie.

I give this

Movie Title: Interview with the Vampire: Vampire Chronicles

Actor(s): Tom Cruise

Role: Lastat de Lioncourt

D.O.M.R.: November 11th, 1994

Link to Watch:

Pre-movie Summary:  A vampire tells his epic life story: love, betrayal, loneliness, and hunger.

Okay, I really like this movie. It might be because I really the Twilight fake vampires. But I found this to be an amazing movie. Ann Rice wrote the book, and if I can get a hold of it I’ll read it and give a review on that(*Note: I’m thinking of starting to do book reviews, let me know what you think).

So, the main character Louy(sp?[Feel free to correct me on this spelling])(Played by Brad Pitt) is interviewed by a guy who wants to know his life story. Louy agrees and tells him he’s a vampire, of course the guy doesn’t believe it at first but then Louy proves it. And they begin the interview, it starts by Louy saying he wants death because he lost his wife and child. This takes place back when there were colonies in America. He wants to die, and Lastat(Tom Cruise) gives him a taste of it right at the beginning. Then he gave Louy a choice whether he wants to be a vampire or not. By doing this he drained him to point of death, when he said yes, Lastat gave him his blood to drink. That turned Louy into a vampire. He taught him about being a vampire, how you need blood and coffins. Louy doesn’t like the idea of taking human lives, so he goes after animals, eg. chickens, rats, poodles(lol, I crack myself up). Lastat isn’t happy about it. The slaves on Louy’s land don’t like what’s happening, so they go over to his house and try and burn it down. Louy beats them too it, tells them their free and burns the house. Lastat saves him and they move towns, renting rooms. Eventually Louy wanders into a part of town that was cursed by the plauge. He wanders into a house and finds a young girl crying for her mama. Uncontrolled, Louy drinks from her. Lastat finds him and he runs. Lastat went out to look for him and brought him back to their room, there he had a surprise for him. It was the little girl he had almost killed. Lastat turns her into a vampire, and Claudia is born. They become a family, and as the time goes by Claudia and Louy realize that they’re much better off without Lastat. So, Claudia kills him and sends him into the swamp. The two planed to travel to the mediterranean to search for other vampires that Lastat had mentioned before. It took them a few years, I believe, but they did manage to find a few others of their kind. Things go wrong when the other vampires realize that Claudia is also a vampire, for it is forbidden to make one as young as her. They imprison Louy and kill Claudia and a woman Louy had turned into a vampire to be her companion. Louy takes his revenge by killing them. Then he goes on to say that with that done, he refused the teachings of the one who offered. He continued to travel the mediterranean until he wants to return to the new country, America. He finally see’s a sunrise and colours thanks to movie projectors. He then smells death, follows it and comes to find Lastat. He tells Louy that he was always the strong one of the two of them. Louy ends the interview by saying he’s empty. They guys tells him that can’t be it, and he wants to become a vampire as well. Louy scares him and leaves, the guy runs out in fear. As he’s driving Lastat comes out of no where, and offers him if he wants to be a vampire as well.

I love this movie, I literally went out yesterday and picked a copy up. It wasn’t intentional, but I found it and I was not about to say no to a $5 movie like this.

I would recommend this to anyone who hates twilight, and to anyone who likes or loves twilight just so they can see what a REAL vampire is like.

I give it

Movie Title: TAPS

Actor(s)(The ones I pay attention to anyway):Tom Cruise

Role: Cadet Captain David Shawn

D.O.M.R.(Date Of Movie Release): December 9th, 1981

Link To Watch:

Pre-movie summary: Military cadets take extreme measures to ensure the future of their academy when it’s existence is threatened by local condo development.

Okay, I love this movie. It’s the one that I practically memorized.

This is one of Tom Cruise’s first movies he actually appears in for more than a minute. His role is about the third biggest. He plays as ‘Cadet Captain David Shawn’. David Shawn is a war junky, he’s in love with it. He’ll do anything to fire someone up, he’s the first one to pick a fight and pick up a weapon. It’s even said by ‘Lieutenant West’ Played by Evan Handler, who says that he thinks Shawn is holding private rallies out there to pump up the other cadets. ‘Cadet Major Moreland’ says that he’s always been like that, and continues to go on and ask West after the Hulk(Another cadet in this movie played by Tim Riley). West agrees that he would want Shawn. This movie then goes on, people decide that they don’t want to be in the ‘war’ that was produced anymore. West walks out with them as he doesn’t want to get in any deeper. Then Cadets get hurt, ‘Cadet Captain J.C. Pierce’ get’s burned trying to help put power back in the school after is cut. After a tank is brought in one of the younger cadets tries to convince his friend to go over the wall with him. His friend says this wont go on forever but then he jumps over the mound of sand bags they were behind, drops his gun and runs to safety. In the process his friend tries and stops him, a bullet fires from the gun lodging itself in his friend’s stomach. Things keep going down hill when ‘Colonel Kerby'(Played by Ronny Cox) says that he and everything else outside the school walls will take the school at dawn if they don’t surrender. Major Moreland goes to surrender before dawn, calling everyone in. But Shawn won’t go down without a fight.

In the end it becomes clear that what the cadets were fighting for wasn’t worth what the end result was.

I thought it was a really good movie, I really liked it. To myself I found the ending expected. Maybe it was just me.

It was an extremely good movie, and I would recommend it to anyone I think would like it.

This movie was shot before ‘The Outsiders’, only Tom Cruise’s second movie. First one he co-stared in.

And this was my first movie review, let me know what you think.
